This week saw major AI healthcare advancements and challenges. The World Health Organization extended its global digital health strategy through 2027 to help countries use AI safely. Microsoft created an AI Orchestrator to help doctors plan cancer treatments faster by organizing medical data automatically.

In Taiwan, hospitals started using AI imaging tools to find pancreatic cancer early. This technology is approved in both Taiwan and the United States. Google added an AI Mode to its search engine to answer complex health questions using pictures, videos, and text.

A big cyberattack hit UK hospitals, showing how important it is to protect AI systems that help diagnose patients. Researchers made progress with Compass AI, which can predict how well cancer treatments will work by studying a patient’s genes.

Companies like Anthropic warned about AI safety risks, putting special controls on their medical AI models. Experts also found current AI tools struggle with deep medical research tasks in new test results.

Next week, leaders will meet at the AI Spring Summit in Minnesota to discuss future healthcare AI rules and innovations.
